IS THIS THING FOR REAL?

Hello! And welcome to my first blog, first post. Seasonal Affective Disorder, aka SAD, aka Winter Blues affects around 14 million Americans, according to Dr. Norman E. Rosenthal, in the book titled "Winter Blues". It is indeed a real thing. So if you are one of those people, you are in the right place. I too have been there. My story began in the 1980's! I know that was a loooong time ago. I was a young mom at the time and raising three small children. And although I was able to secure some help at the time to deal with unresolved conflict, life's disappointments, marriage and children, my symptoms for this particular "brand" of depression went undiagnosed and thus untreated. Dr. Rosenthal reveals in his book that he was doing research into seasonal depression at the same time I would have been going through it. Forty years on I am grateful to be among the age group that is generally on the other side of SAD symptoms. I still prefer a day with lots of sunshine and love to diffuse essential oils for their aromatic appeal. And yoga is a plus when I can get it in. But I want to say that I am here today to share my experiences with you; to give you hope and a number of tips/techniques to manage your symptoms of SAD. You are not alone. You can manage this thing I like to call Seasonality. It has a certain snap to it! I look forward to bringing you everything I can to give you insight in managing your SAD and living your life with joy, hope and positive mental outlook. Until next time....Jeanine
